Dinner Out At Pearl's Saltwater Grille

We don't eat out much here in Savannah, but once in a while we do try the local "southern" cuisine. No other adjective in my mind comes close to the experience of eating at Saltwater Grille. Imagine Paula Deene's cooking with the Savannah river landscape in the back drop and that is where this uniquely Savannah restaurant is situated. Where else would you be served deep fried hush puppies (a type of corn meal) as a starter, except in the deep south.

I had blackened mahi mahi washed down with a glass of riesling and wifey had grilled salmon. The food was ok but not memorable. Indeed it is the back drop to this restaurant, basically a swamp, which makes this experience unique.

Baby is adorable as usual and charmed many folks in the restaurant.

PS: the use of the word "folk" seems to be a very southern thing as well.
