Thanksgiving Weekend - Smoky Mountains Day 2

Spent the 2nd day walking along the Appalachian Trail from the Fontana Dam trail head. The weather was much better and there were less people along this trail. Less scenic, more strenuous but had a good dose of fresh air nonetheless.

This is baby along the steep trail which was rated moderated.

Baby Developmental Update

As of last visit to the paediatrician (on 7th Nov), Mei Xi is 6.55kg and 24 1'2 " - I suspect she's actually longer than that cos she has suddenly outgrown some of her little onesies. Think she's struggling too much when the nurse measured her. Dr says she has stranger anxiety now, because she screams and screams when a stranger touches her (same thing happened when we were in the grocery store the other day). Just 1, 2 months ago, she was still super-friendly, smiling at random strangers. Luckily she was still ok when we were in Singapore.

Her hair has grown longer already and no longer stands up (unless they get messed up when she sleeps). Hair is thicker too, so gets sweaty when she cries.
She doesn't bother to feed herself anymore these days. Unless is rice cracker (finger food). Don't know when she'll feed herself, but at the moment, meal times are relatively clean and tidy, so that's good too.
She can sit very well now, very straight when unsupported. Can also get herself into a semi-sitting position from a tummy position. Every day, she goes into the yoga downward dog position - body supported by all 4 limbs touching ground, as though she's trying to stand. Actually, she seems to be able to stand for a while when unsupported - haven't tested this one much since supposed to lead to bow-leggedness? Anyway, she always tries to stand on the highchair when I put her down to sit. Also looks like she's going to pull herself up to stand soon, at which time we can't let her sleep in the crib anymore.

She still doesn't like changing time, but at least after some 'training', she now only rolls over at most and doesn't crawl away. Just got to distract her, give her a toy, and be quick. That's why very troublesome if need to layer more clothings when weather is cold.
Been trying to her her to suck her thumb less too. Sometimes hold her hand and let her cry a bit to sleep. MH's friend gave Chinese VCDs, so now I recite some of the Tang and Song poems on the VCD we watch to her. I'm alo learning 3 Ji Jing to recite to her cos the words in the booklets are too small for her to see.

Weather's getting cold, so we got her a little red bomber jacket with faux fur lined hood. Very cute. Got red cos bright colour and thought is unisex. Then realise got pink lining inside =p Got her a pair of white mittens too. Think she'll be well-prepared if we go hiking up north during the Thanksgiving weekend.

Just Baby

Baby seems to love rolling around our bed. She loves climbing the mountain of pillows and duvet and sliding down the sheets. It is quite funny really, seeing her scooting around our bed like a little kitten.

This is not of her on our bed but on her mat which is the dedicated clean floor surface for her to crawl around on the floor.

Cry Baby

Who can be a baby and not cry? Baby went for her immunization and cried / wailed / shrieked she did. She started crying even before her jabs when the alcohol swabs were applied. Here's her in a various crying glory. haha.

Then & Now

It is always interesting to compare changes. Nobody can resist the winds of time and change, but at the same time, the similarities provides us a link to the past.
